The Quill and Canyon St. Louis Region State Parks Adventure Series turns a trip to the state parks into a hands-on outdoor learning experience for middle and high school students. This isn't a guide meant to sit on a bookshelf—it is a field guide designed to be carried onto the trail, written in, explored, and completed outdoors.

Students will explore eight state parks within a day's drive of St. Louis, with each park offering a different combination of natural history, geology, ecology, wildlife, human history, and conservation.

The guide also teaches trail safety, Leave No Trace principles, responsible wildlife observation, and outdoor ethics. Students learn how to hike responsibly, respect cultural sites, protect fragile habitats, and leave the places they explore better protected for the next visitor.
